Headway saw the need for brain injury survivors and their families, and they were established in 1981, with various branches throughout the world.
At Headway they focus on two main areas:
- rehabilitation
- occupational activity programmes
They offer five days a week Rehabilitation and Occupational Activity Programmes and are available to all those over 18 years of age who have sustained an Acquired Brain Injury from a motor vehicle accident, gunshot, stroke or any other trauma to the brain.
They request a doctor’s referral letter confirming the injury, after which they do an assessment to determine where the patient is at in terms of recovery and the necessary therapy required.
Based on their findings the therapy process is mapped out and started.

- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Clinical Psychology
- Occupational Activity Programme
- Support Groups

LifeCare is an emergency medical response service providing a rapid response service to the community so that they can preserve life. They attend to any emergency, that has been logged to their emergency call centre, free-of-charge.
