Psycho-Geriatric Clinic | Bly-Moedig | Kameeldrift, Pretoria

Sister Lina Enslin and her husband Pierre started Blymoedig Clinic, a peaceful, homely environment, in 1978 catering for  older patients suffering mainly from dementia but also for stroke patients, cancer patients etc as well as patients who behave abnormally. Patients that have been diagnosed as having other psychiatric disorders are also admitted.

Today there are patients in the Clinic who have been diagnosed as having -

  • Schizophrenia
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Huntington’s Chorea
  • Down’s Syndrome
  • Major Depression
  • Mentally Impaired patients
  • Brain damaged patients through injury

On top of this they are also a training facility for nursing assistants.
They provide a 24-hour nursing service.

A visiting private doctor attends to patient’s when necessary. Hospitalisation happens only in exceptional cases and illnesses such as pneumonia and heart failure are handled at the clinic.
