The Heart and Stroke Foundation was established in 1980 to co-ordinate heart health activities in South Africa. This organisation was established to reduce the incidence of heart disease and stroke in the population of South Africa by providing education and supporting research by creating awareness of the risk factors and focusing on prevention. They have three key focus areas:
- health promotion to encourage prevention of cardiovascular disease
- support for people who have had a cardiovascular event
- fundraising to continue their work
They have also launched an innovative programme that assists companies to invest in the nutritional well being of their employees. The Healthy Hearts @ Work Canteen Programme is designed to encourage healthy food choices and healthy eating practices at the workplace.

They were established in 2006. In October 2006 Birth-to-Baby Right trading as Stork’s Nest began operating in a temporary clinic. In 2007 renovations to Stork’s Nest were completed and the clinic and birth unit opened it’s doors.
They -
- see babies for for immunization and check ups
- do 8 – 14 births a month in the Active Birth Unit
- offer ongoing antenatal education classes through the year

Since 1964, S.A. Venom Supplies have been producing high quality venom for anti-venom and research purposes.
They are the largest producers in South Africa, supplying these venoms to scientific and medical institutions in South Africa and broad, and in fact they have been the major supplier of snake venom to the S.A.V.P. since the early sixties.
The snakes are kept in enclosures exclusively designed to accommodate the Limpopo climate and are fed a well balanced diet to ensure they are stress-free. This ensures that the venom yields are high and toxicity levels are optimum.
They have also perfected the extraction of venom from back-fanged snakes like the Boomslang, and this means serum is manufactured and also available.
