Emergency Medical Supplies Training are a registered first aid training institution, and since 1960 they have been specialising in first aid and emergency equipment. They were established after identifying the need for a reputable company with a proven track record to train people in first aid and emergency care skills.
They also train Level V ECP-B and Level VI ECP-I Ambulance Practitioners and they will gladly customise courses to suit specific requirements.
Instructors utilised by EMS include level 5,6,7 & 8 Emergency Medical Services personnel & instructors as well as medical practitioners. All their instructors are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and/or the Department of Labour.
Some of their speciality courses include CPR Training, water rescue training, event management, rope rescue training, flight medical assistant training and others.

They provide quality emergency care to millions of people in the Western Cape. To serve the needs of the people, they have a fleet of 250 Emergency Vehicles with stations throughout the Western Cape, with dedicated crew, management and communications centers.
They have two divisions -
They receive thousands of calls each month, consisting of a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency cases; their mission being to provide a highly professional service delivered by skilled personnel with well equipped resources.
Training of Metro EMS Personnel takes place at the Academy of Emergency Care in the grounds of the Tygerberg Academic Hospital. Training is in two divisions -
- one is responsible for the training in primary qualifications
- the other ensures a network of continous training and development
Primary training is conducted under the auspices of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Academy of Emergency Care following the signing of a memorandum of agreement.
